Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Northern Kenya
There is something timeless about this haughty bull gliding across the African savannah as only a giraffe can. It was late afternoon as I travelled through the Conservancy, which is part of the Laikipia ecosystem. Privately owned but community driven, it provides a long-term and meaningful contribution to indigenous people and wildlife. It’s a crucial initiative and one that should be emulated. I love this shot for many reasons; the majesty and beauty of the reticulated giraffe, the soft wintry light and the way the eye is drawn to mount Kenya in the distance.
